Tsavo East
Description
The park is located in the southern part of Kenya and its part of the extensive Tsavo conservancy. It lies to the west of the Nairobi-Mombasa highway hence the name Tsavo west. It’s one of the largest parks in Kenya covering an expansive area of about 9,065 square kilometers. The park features diverse landscape including open grasslands, acacia, woodlands, volcanic hills, the iconic Chyulu hills, the shetani lava flow. The park is home to a rich variety wildlife including the big five (Lion, Elephant, buffalo, Leopard & rhinoceros) other animals found in the park include giraffes, zebras, Hippos, cheetahs, wild dogs and numerous bird species.
Things to do in Tanzania
- Pass by the dried out Aruba Dam
- Go on a game drive to spot the crème de la crème of African wildlife
- Visit Lugard Falls for a series of rapid waters
- Climb on Mudanda Rock for excellent views and to watch animals at the watering hole below
